The new museum was built on the former estate of Ferenc Kazinczy (1759-1831) revered author and reformer of the Hungarian language.
Speaking before an audience of several hundred people, Solyom said he hoped that the new institution would help preserve national cultural values and it would inspire linguistic development.
The ceremony was attended by Szilveszter E. Vizi, president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and local leaders.
