Aimard, who was a student of Messiaen, played works by György Ligeti, György Kurtág, Arnold Schönberg and John Cage during the reading from Fatelessness in the first part of the concert programme. On the second half of the programme, was Messiaen's Quartet for the end of time, which was first performed by Messiaen and fellow prisoners of war to an audience of inmates and prison guards. Aimard was joined for the piece by Pascal Moragues on clarinet, Isabelle Faust on violin and Valérie Aimard on cello.
Aimard noted that captivity was the starting point for the works of both Messiaen and Kertész.
