The eight-day anniversary festival, concluded on Tuesday night, showed some 100 titles in the competition programme and the same number of films outside competition, said Ilona Kozma.

Eighteen new feature-length films competed for the Golden Reel Award, while other titles contested in the short film, documentary, scientific and television categories.

The Golden Reel went to young director Aron Matyassy for his film "Lost Times" about a young car mechanic in eastern Hungary involved in smuggling diesel oil in 1997.

The record of visitors at previous film festivals was 47,000.
