At the two-day meeting, directors of cultural institutes, concert halls, art agencies, programme organisers are reviewing prospects of closer cooperation of countries in Central and Eastern Europe and within the EU member states, the Hungarian Music Export Office said.
Xavier Troussard, head of the Unit-Culture of the European Commission's Directorate General Education and Culture, called it important to create more opportunities for Eastern-European artists to be present in western Europe, an objective set forth under Europe's cultural strategy.
Other speakers presented the joint "Roots and Routes" project launched by ten European countries to find, support and promote young talents in the performing arts.
On the sidelines of the conference, a series of live concerts will be organised on Friday and Saturday night in Budapest, Debrecen (E) and the Romanian partner city of Targu Mures.
