The self-published album, entitled Celluloid, is intended to be listened too as a single work.
"Our concept was to create a link between all the songs on the CD. There are individual tracks but there is practically only a breathing space between them," said synthesiser player Marcell Kovács.
The new album is available on the internet and at the band's concerts.
Sonar earlier recorded an EP which the band distributed by placing on shelves in big department stores. The CD labels invited shoppers to take them free of charge - an invitation that was quickly accepted. The band recorded the guerrilla marketing and uploaded the results to video sharing sites.
Sonar has been a regular performer at the Sziget Festival, a week-long musical extravaganza in an island in the Danube.
