The programme ?aspires to highlight the natural and cultural potential of the Danube area by promoting an eco-cultural and eco-technological movement?, according to the organisers.
The programme will start with a video installation of legends of the Danube projected onto the façade of the Le Meridien Hotel.
The great Romanian canoeist Ivan Patzaichin will be present at the screening.
On Saturday, a canoe competition will take place in the Lágymányosi Bay, in the south of the capital. The contest will feature ?canotcă?, specially designed boats made of wood and crafted with old technologies from the Danube Delta.
The Hungarian world champion canoeist Tamás Wichmann will compete against Patzaichin at the event, said Romanian Cultural Institute director Brindusa Armanca.
The chief patron of the programme is deputy state secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gergely Prőhle.
