The organiser of the series, Éva Karádi, who is the editor-in-chief of the Hungarian literary journal Lettre Internationale, said Teodorovici would read excerpts from his novel Our Circus Presents, which was selected one of the ten best Romanian novels of 2007. The book has been published in English, German, Italian, and most recently in Hungarian, in a translation by Zsuzsanna Nagy and published by L'Harmattan.
The young Romanian writer is an editor for the renowned Bucharest publishing house Polirom, an avid blogger, an expert in English literature and the creator of an internet site on contemporary Romanian writing. Teodorovici's novel Our Circus Presents, which could be set at any geographical location, presents extreme life situations, talks about responsibility, morals, the dark sides of post-communist society and the residents of prefab housing blocks, Karádi said.
The other featured writer of the event, Parti Nagy, will read from his political parody My Hero's Square. Both writers will discuss the years after the fall of communism.
At previous 20 Years of New Wave events, László Garaczi was featured alongside Andrzej Stasiuk from Poland, Zsófia Bán together with Jana Juranova from Slovakia and György Dalong with Ingo Schulze from Germany.
Bosnian-born Croatian writer Milienko Jergovic, currently living in Zagreb, will present his novel Ruta Tannenbaum, to be published by L'Harmattan in Hungarian, in January. His Hungarian partner will be Viktor Horváth, who will read excerpts from his book Turkish Mirror, published by Jelenkor-
The 20 Years of New Wave series will continue with Russian, Estonian ad Bulgarian writers at the Gödör Club later next year, Karádi said.
