Russian Translations of Hungarian Classics Reissued

The three books are Mór Jókai's The Man with the Golden Touch, Géza Gárdonyi's Eclipse of the Crescent Moon and Ferenc Molnár's The Paul Street Boys. All three novels are well known in Russia but are out of print.

The Man with the Golden Touch proved so hard to find that an advertisement for an old copy to use as the basis for the reissue was placed online, said Director of Moscow's Hungarian Cultural Institute Ilona Kiss.

Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier declared 2007 the Year of the Russian Language. To celebrate and promote the Russian language, more than 900 events have been organised in 80 countries around the world, including Hungary.
