Russia's '4' Takes Best Film Prize at Titanic

The script for ?4? was written by the controversial Russian writer Vladimir Sorokin. The film opens in a Moscow bar, where three strangers divulge their secrets. More is discovered about each of their revelations in the remaining three episodes of the film.

Khrzhanovsky was presented the award ? a trophy designed by Luca Görömlei, and an EUR 8,000 purse ? by the chair of the international jury and artistic director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival Shane Danielsen at Budapest's Uránia Theatre. The awards ceremony was also attended by the festival?s patron and Minister of Culture András Bozóki and festival director György Horváth. The prize was the first the festival has awarded since its inception in 1993.

The audience award for best film went to Miranda July for the comedy "Me and You and Everyone We Know", but she was unable to attend the ceremony.

The 13th Titanic Film Festival featured 61 films from 31 countries shown at 161 screenings. Twelve of the screenings were followed by question and answer sessions with filmmakers. Nine of the films participated in the competition.
