Csányi was presented the award by Róbert Alföldi, who won the prize last year, at a gala ceremony at Budapest?s Palace of Culture on Tuesday. Runners-up for the award included Zoltán Balázs, Erika Balogh, Attila Dolhai, Kata Janza, Árpád Zsolt Mészáros, Sándor Nagy, Judit Schell, Ágota Siménfalvy, Szilveszter Szabó P., Tibor Szervét and Éva Vári. The event, one of the highlights of the year for Hungary?s theatre crowd, also featured a performance of the comedy ?The Bench? with Dér and Áron Őze in the lead roles.
More than 20,000 votes were submitted for this year?s Súgó Csiga award. Theatre-goers could vote online or by using ballots available in theatres between February 7 and March 19.
Súgó Csiga launched the poll in 2001 to support Hungary?s theatre community and foster a closer connection between audience and actors.
