Semaine International de la Critique Includes Hungarian Film in Selection

English

The Semaine International de la Critique, or International Critics? Week, was started in 1962 as an alternative to the highly competitive context of the Cannes Film Festival. It invites 7 feature films and 7 shorts to participate in Cannes at the same time as the Cannes Film Festival, seeking to discover new talent. Among the directors whose first films have been invited to the Semaine International de la Critique are Bernardo Bertolucci, Ken Loach, Wong Kar Wai and Francoise Ozon. The ?Godfather? or mentor of the 45th International Critics' Week is Argentine director Gaspar Noé, who made a name with his controversial film ?Irreversible?.

In addition to competing for the Grand Prix Semaine International de la Critique, ?Fresh Air? will also vie for the Camera d?Or prize, awarded to directorial debuts.

Kocsis has also been invited to participate in this year?s Cannes Film Festival: her film ?The Virus? will compete in the Cinéfondation selection, which awards prizes to the three best film-school entries.

?Fresh Air? won the Sándor Simó prize for best directorial debut at the 37th Hungarian Film Festival earlier this year.
