Sibiu To Host Pécs 2010 Day

The day will be part of Sibiu's programme for its title European Capital of Culture 2007, which it is sharing with Luxembourg. Pécs has been awarded the title European Capital of Culture 2010.
 
The day will kick off a three-day programme of events which will include the opening of an exhibition of the works of the Hungarian op-art master Victor Vasarely, a performance by the Győr Ballet and speeches by Pécs mayor Péter Tasnádi and Hungary's House Speaker Katalin Szili.
 
The events have been orgnaised by the Sibiu Association of Hungarians, which will also organise events throughout 2007 as part of the European Capital of Culture 2007 programme. The association's Ars Hungarica will be a programme within a programme, featuring concerts by Hungarian performers Neofolk, Szélkiáltó, Szabolcs Szamosi's and Péter Solymosi, and a production of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? by the Pécs National Theatre.
