Sight and Sound Praises Man From London

English

"Béla Tarr's latest film may initially appear to be his most conventional work to date, but the Hungarian director hasn't softened his uncompromising worldview in 'The Man from London'," Michael Brooke said in his review of the Hungarian-French-German coproduction.

Tarr remains true to his style "without making the smallest concession to popular fashion," which is a "cause for celebration", Brooke said.

"Tarr has created some of the most striking opening sequences in modern cinema (...) and the Man from London is no exception."

Brooke also praised Tarr's cinematographer Fred Kelemen for his silvery black and white images and breathtaking compositions.
