The festival, slated for June 5-14, will feature more than 250 performances and other events.
"There are many different POSZTs, depending on how you look at the event. Theatre professionals focus on the plays in competition, but you must not forget that there are a great many events, at 40 venues," said festival co-director Tamás Jordán. "POSZT has organically incorporated" the OFF festival, the Young Genius programme for young performers, the Open Forum and roundtable discussions held on the book stage at Széchenyi Square, he added.
About 70pc of tickets have already been sold, and tickets for many performances are sold out, said managing director of festival organiser POSZT István Simon.
This year's POSZT will receive HUF 75 million in support from the Ministry of Education and Culture. This amount will be increased by an annual HUF 5 million for the next two years.
