Star Performers at Kaposvár Chamber Music Festival

The festival will open with a concert on Friday featuring the American violinist Joshua Bell. He will be joined by Mikhail Ovrutsky, Katalin Kokas and Alina Pogostkina on violin, Zoltán Gál and Gilad Karni on viola, and Jonathan Cohen and Dóra Kokas on cello for a performance of Mendelssohn?s Octet in E flat major, Op. 20. The second part of the programme will feature the star Hungarian violinist Barnabás Kelemen, joined by Knut Erik Sundquist on bass, Bence Horváth on trumpet, Róbert Káip on trombone, Zsolt Szatmári on clarinet, György Lakatos on bassoon and Zoltán Rácz on percussion for a performance of Stravinsky?s The Soldier?s Tale. Zoltán Kocsis will conduct and the narrator will be Pál Mácsai.

 
The Russian bass Yevgeny Nesterenko will sing songs by Musorgsky at a concert on Sunday, August 15.
 
Also on the programme is the Finnish violin virtuoso Pekka Kuusisto.

 

The Switzerland-based European Broadcasting Union (EBU) will broadcast sixteen concerts from the festival.
