(MTI) - Geza Szocs told MTI after meeting Russian Culture Minister Aleksandr Avdeyev that a bilateral cultural agreement would soon be signed by the two countries.
The planned agreement covers film, theatre, literature and the graphic arts, seeking to present intellectual products in Hungary, and in return helping Hungarian artists to "broad and sensible" audiences in Russia, Szocs said.
Parties at the talks touched upon programmes of the Liszt Year with special regard to events jointly organised in St Petersburg, said Szocs. He said that a memorial plaque would be placed on a building where the composer once stayed and that a series of concerts with Hungarian, Polish, and Russian participation was being organised.
Szocs also met Yuri Lyubimov, head of the famous Taganka theatre, and discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation between Hungarian and Russian theatres. The possibility of Taganka performing in Hungary was also raised at the meeting, the cultural secretariat of the Hungarian national resources ministry said.
