The ten-day festival will feature 700 performers from 23 countries, including Mexico, Turkey, Nigeria, Thailand and Slovakia. Performances will take place in nearby Tököl and Ráckeve as well as in Százhalombatta.
After the arrival of the foreign performers, who will stay with local families, the Hungarian dance ensemble Forrás, which has 600 members, will start the festival with a gala evening in the city's community centre.
Summerfest has drawn 150,000 visitors from 45 countries over the past five years. This year's event is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors.
