Carmina Burana

At the Karmiel Dance Festival, problems with the set for the troupe's production of Carmina Burana forced them to perform the longer and more physically demanding A Midsummer Night's Dream, and not early in the evening as scheduled, but after midnight, Juronics said. The troupe did perform Carmina Burana the following morning, after getting little sleep, and again in the evening, after midnight. The event was very special for festival-goers, but exhausting for the dancers, he said.

On Saturday, the set for A Midsummer Night's Dream caused problems. Too big for the elevator in the famous Suzanne Dellal Theatre in Tel Aviv, it had to be sawn apart before the troupe could perform at the Summerdance Festival. In spite of the trouble, the full house rewarded the troupe with loud applause.

On days when the troupe did not perform, the dancers explored Jerusalem and took a trip around Lake Kineret, Juronics said.

The trip was not the Szeged Contemporary Ballet's first to Israel. Four years earlier, the troupe performed at the Tel Aviv Opera.

The Szeged Contemporary Ballet will start their 2008/2009 season on August 25.
