Szeged to Host Five Festivals in 2010

The Szeged Open-Air Festival will start on May 22 with a big concert organised to mark the 100th anniversary of local daily Délmagyarország.

 
My Fair Lady will be performed on the open-air stage in front of the Szeged cathedral from July 2, the dance piece Dózsa will show from July 16 and an opera and operetta gala will be staged on July 24. Carmen will be shown on July 30 and the festival will conclude with a production of Hair on August 13.
 
The Szeged Youth Festival, the last big music festival of the summer, will start on August 25.
 
The Hungaricum Festival, a showcase for the best Hungarian products, will be held on Széchenyi Square from August 12.
 
The International Tisza Fish Festival, a culinary celebration, will start on September 2.
 
The 20th Thealter Festival will be hosted in the Old Synagogue and the Small Theatre as well as on open-air stages between July 16 and 25. This year's festival will focus on the life work of the poet Ottó Tolnai who turns 70 this year.
