The event aims to attract as many visitors as attended last year?s reenactment of the marriage of King Mátyás and Beatrix: the ceremony was seen by 20,000 people.
Alba Regia, Latin for Székesfehérvár, served as the venue for coronations, royal weddings and funerals for half a century. The royal weddings were unforgettable events lasting for days, according to Viktor Adorján, who is organising the event.
The parts of 33-year-old King László I and his 18-year-old bride will be played by amateur actors Gergely Horváth and Nikolett Pereczes. The event will start with a period market, where visitors can buy hand-crafted goods. Visitors will also be entertained by actors, troubadours and jugglers, for which László?s court was famous. As Christianity had not yet routed out the pagans, they too will be witnesses to the ceremony, setting up an encampment of yurts and offering demonstrations of the art of battle. There will also be a shaman drum circle, rides on winged horses and, as the festival will fall near midsummer?s eve, fire jumping.
The wedding ceremony will take place on the second day of the event. Princess Adelheid will wait in the Christian encampment, where she will receive the groom. Afterward, they will be accompanied by a bishop and monks to the town square, where King László will present his bride to his subjects. While Adelheid prepares for the ceremony, guests will be entertained by games of chivalry. After the pompous ceremony, there will be a wedding feast with dishes from the middle ages. Amusement will be provided by jesters.
