Based on decades of experience, local organisers are planning a series of events around the region to coincide with the pilgrimage, said head of the Harghita County council Csaba Borboly.
?Everything that has to do with Szeklerland has to be presented together as a unit,? said Covasna County council chairman Sándor Tamás.
Among the events on the programme is the First Szeklerland Graphic Biennale to be held in the Covasna County Arts Centre and the Lazarea Arts Centre. Almost 300 artists from ten countries will show their work at the biennale.
Although the aim of the biennale is first of all to raise the profile of local artists, the participation by foreign artists will give these locals a chance to learn about trends abroad, said Lazarea Arts Centre director and chair of the biennale jury Péter Kassay.
Some of the events to coincide with the pilgrimage have already started. A folk fair has opened in Targu Secuiesc, a talent contest is being held in Arcus and a folk music and folk dance convention is being hosted in Targu Mures.
