The organiser made the decision in spite of expecting to spend HUF 200 million more on performers for this year's festival than last year's, said festival spokesman Csaba Marinka. He added that the cost of hosting non-profit organisations at the event would be covered from the festival's budget.

In previous years, state subsidies have accounted for 4-5 percent of the festival's budget.

The budget for the 15th Sziget Festival will be HUF 2.67 billion, of which HUF 800 million will go to performers. The overall budget will be about HUF 400 million more than in 2006, Marinka said.
