The lineup for the main stage is complete save for one act, and the world music stage will probably host performances already on the "zero-day" before the official start of the festival.
To mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the festival organisers, together with the ARC art initiative, will erect a 50-metre-long, two-metre-high wall at the festival venue. Dubbed the Arcadom wall, artists will decorate one side and festival-goers the other.
The festival promises a rich cultural programme in addition to the musical acts. The Catalonian theatre La Fura dels Baus, which is celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, will bring a production especially prepared for the Sziget Festival. The Beat In The Dark will feature circus and acrobatic elements as well as parts specifically tailored to Hungarian audiences.
The Beat In The Dark can be seen every evening between August 12 and 16, said La Fura dels Baus artistic director Miguel Badosa Ricart.
The scale of The Beat In The Dark will be matched by a five-and-a-half-metre Baobab tree in the Octopus Arts Area. The tree is intended to draw attention to the effects of climate change.
Twelve institutions will be represented in this year's Museum Quarter, and the Travelling Fun Fair will expand into a real circus tent.
