Sziget Festival Includes Ballet on Programme

English

Though some may not think a ballet performance will fit well on the programme of a music festival that features such acts as the Sex Pistols, Jens Rosén, art director of Stockholm 59° North, disagrees, noting that the festival has welcomed all kinds of performers over the years, and there is room on the programme for ballet. He added that the troupe is very impressed with the atmosphere at the Sziget.

Festival-goers will have the chance to see Stockholm 59° North's latest piece, which earned them kudos on their recent U.S. tour. The performance has three male and three female dancers, accompanied by two pianos in constant disharmony.

Another piece, Pas de Dance, features music especially composed for the troupe by Benny Andersson of Swedish pop group ABBA.

Castrati, the most difficult piece, will be last on the programme of Saturday evening's performance. The choreography by Spanish National Dance Theatre art director Nacho Duato has nine male performers dancing to the music of Vivaldi.
