Balsan committed suicide while Tarr was making The Man From London. Hansen-Love commented on the director and his film in an interview with Le Monde.
"Many considered [Tarr] a scapegoat after Humbert's death, but the producer's wife continued to fight so he could finish his film, and I found this to be very beautiful," she said.
