Tartan Films has bought the distribution rights for the UK and Ireland, and then for the US, producer Péter Miskolczi told the Hungarian News Agency (MTI). The rights were sold by Fortissimo Films, which purchased the right to distribute the film internationally, except for in Hungary, France and Austria, the three countries involved in the making of the film.
Director György Pálfi?s second film, which is based on the short stories of Hungarian writer Lajos Parti Nagy, has been a favourite on the festival circuit. It opened in Hungary on November 9.
In the Benelux countries, the Dutch distributor of Pálfi?s first film, ?Hukkle?, snapped up the rights to ?Taxidermia? without even seeing the film, Miskolczi said.
A final list of the countries where ?Taxidermia? is likely to be shown will be available in about two weeks, Miskolczi added.
