Held for the 42nd time, the Chicago International Film Festival bills itself as North America?s oldest competitive film festival.
?Taxidermia? is Pálfi?s second feature film. His first, ?Hukkle? also won many awards.
?Taxidermia? has been recognised at the Hungarian Film Week, as well as at festivals in Brussels, Clui Napoca and Antalya. The film will be released in Hungarian cinemas on November 7.
The Chicago Film Festival?s Golden Hugo Award went to the Iranian film ?Fireworks Wednesday?, and the French-Algerian co-production ?Days of Glory? was awarded the Silver Hugo Special Jury Prize. Liza Minelli, Stephen Frears and Dustin Hoffman received Career Achievement Awards and Stephen Spielberg was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival.
The 42nd Chicago Film Festival featured films from more than 30 countries, with Hungary represented by films in each of the most important programmes. Director Krisztina Goda?s comedy ?Just Sex and Nothing Else? was introduced by the director and scriptwriter Réka Divinyi, and István Szabó?s ?Relatives? was shown as part of the World Cinema programme. The film?s producer János Rózsa attended the premiere.
