The Killers and front man Brandon Flowers hail from the United States, but it was in the UK that the band first found success with their album Hot Fuss. Sam's Town, the band's latest effort, has cemented their standing with the fans.
Nine Inch Nails, the brainchild of Trent Reznor, is one of the most influential bands of the past twenty years. Reznor has led the band through many transformations and many new members, still drawing fans of all ages. The band's line-up at the Sziget Festival will include Reznor, Alessandro Cortini, Josh Freese, Aaron North and Jeordie White. Nine Inch Nails' much anticipated album Year Zero is due out in April.
Grammy Award winning techno duo The Chemical Brothers has given audiences more than ten years of beats, pioneering the big beat electronic dance genre.
The Sziget Festival includes many other acts on its programme, among them Pink - US singer Alecia Moore - who burst onto the scene with the album Can't Take Me Home in 2000. Pink played a free concert - sponsored by T-Mobile - in Budapest last summer.
Performers on the Main Stage will also include The Good The Bad and The Queen, a collaboration of Damon Albarn, Clash bassist Paul Simonon, former Verve guitarist Simon Tong and Afrobeat pioneer and Africa 70 drummer Tony Allen; Sinéad O'Connor, whose career extends 20 years; the Swedish pop band The Hives; actress Juliette Lewis's Juliette and the Licks, which was a sensation at last year's Sziget Festival; Gogol Bordello, which mixes Gypsy music, punk and a bit of Brecht at its performances; and this year's biggest new artist Mika. Other Main Stage performers are Mando Diao, Seeed, Sportfreunde Stiller, Kaizers Orchestra and Babylon Circus.
The World Music stage will host performances by Salif Keita, Rachid Taha, Manu Dibango, Varttina, Cesaria Evora, Skatalites, Tinariwen, Mari Boine, Eddie Palmieri, Leningrad, Fanfare Ciocarlia, Orchestre National de Barbé and Sergent Garcia.
Confirmed performers to appear on the Metal stage this year include Killing Joke, Within Temptation and Negative.
The 15th Sziget Festival is slated for August 8-15. The Hungary's legendary rockers Locomotiv GT will play the festival's zero day on August 7.
