The jury picked the film for the prize "for the power of its austerity and radical commitment to its vision".
The Turin Horse, won the Jury Grand Prix Silver Bear and the Competition FIPRESCI Prize at this year?s Berlin Film Festival. It is Hungary?s submission for Best Foreign Language Film at next year?s Oscars.
This year?s Palm Springs International Film Festival screened 188 films from 73 countries on January 5-16.
