The exhibition, opened by Turkish ambassador to Hungary Oya Tuzcuoglu, shows objects from the Turkish forces' time in Hungary, for almost a century and a half from 1541, said museum director Lieutenant General József Ferenc Holló.
Among the highlights of the exhibition are the clothes of the pasha Enver; and the uniform, decorations and ceremonial weapons of the pasha Ahmet Muhtar. During the 145-year Turkish occupation of Hungary, 99 pashas were seated in Buda, but only a record of the twelve years of pasha Sokoli Mustafa remain. The pasha was responsible for the construction of several buildings in Buda, among them the Rudas baths.
In addition to the items on loan from Turkey, the exhibition will feature weapons used by Hungarian hussars in the 16th century as well as military hardware from WWI.
The exhibition runs from July 15 until November 17.
