The orchestra with almost 200 members was named as UNICEF goodwill ambassador in 2006 at a ceremony attended by Sir Roger Moore, senior goodwill ambassador of the organisation.
In his recently published autobiography entitled My Name is my Bond, Sir Roger remembers the event as well as two concerts with the orchestra last year when he narrated Saint-Saens's The Carnival of the Animals.
He recalls that, despite his cold, Zoltan Kocsis conducted the orchestra very energetically on both evenings and kindly refrained from hitting him over the head even when he accidentally skipped a movement.
The forthcoming UNICEF concert, the fourth in a row, will be held in the Budapest Palace of Arts. The orchestra will perform Bach's B Minor Mass under Kocsis's baton.
