?When my colleagues in Budapest offered me a chance to work with them in one of the most important Hungarian theatres two years ago, I didn?t think the cooperation would materialise. Actually, I had doubts about being able to work in a language that I could not understand,? Savin said.
Savin said the adaptation of the piece had generated more interest than expected.
?The Forest? premiered in Hungary in April.
?Meeting the Hungarian actors convinced me that theatres do not recognise borders and that theatre can indeed link people. Even the knowledge of the language is unimportant because there exists a universal language of the theatre that people in the profession use and can communicate with,? Savin said.
Next spring, the Folk Theatre will bring a production of ?The Merchant of Venice?, also directed by Savin, to Budapest.
Before the performance on Wednesday, an exhibition of poster art by Ferenc Baráth will open in the Folk Theatre. The posters are on loan from the Vojvodina Theatre Museum in Novi Sad.
