About 50 scholars from Hungary and abroad will participate at the conference. Panels will focus on Milton's shorter poems, Comus, Samson and various aspects of Paradise Lost as well as the critical reception of Milton's works in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The conference will be the only international one focusing on Milton in the region this year. It is supported by the Danube Region Reformed Church, the Museum of Applied Arts, the Fulbright Foundation and the Hungarian English Studies Association.
The conference organisers hope it will raise the profile of Milton, who has received less than due attention in Hungary in the past decades.
