Vasarely Exhibition Opens in Skopje

Hungarian ambassador to Macedonia Ferenc Kékesi said that the exhibition is being organised by the Hungarian Cultural Institute of Sophia, the Contemporary Art Museum of Skopje and the Hungarian Embassy.

 
On display in the month-long exhibition are 122 pictures and 35 objects.
 
Vasarely is acclaimed as the father of Op art. He was born Győző Vásárhelyi in Pécs, in southern Hungary, in 1906. He moved to Paris in 1930. There he developed a reputation as one of the world's leading contemporary artists until his death in 1997.
