They include the Valley of Arts, the fishing of the sabre carp in Tihany, the Christkindl, the Magyarpolány Passion Play, the Balaton wine-growing designations, the Juhfark grapes of Somló, the poetic cultural heritage of László Nagy and the Reform Age traditions of Balatonfüred, said Móna Gáspár, spokesperson and marketing department chief of the Laczkó Dezső Veszprém County Museum.
UNESCO established the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2003 and Hungary joined the agreement in 2006.
Elements currently inscribed on the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage are the Busó Festivities of Mohács ? a masked end-of-winter carnival custom; the Awardees of the 'Master of Folk Art' distinction and their knowledge and activity; the Mutton Stew of the Cumania Region According to the Karcag Tradition; the Living traditional heritage in the cultural space of Kalocsa: embroidery, ornamental painting, traditional dress and folk dance; the Pottery tradition of Mezőtúr; Falconry in Hungary; the Living tradition of lace-making in Halas; and the Matyó Heritage ? living traditions of embroidery, dress and folklore.
The Busó Festivities of Mohács and the Tánzház method, a kind of dance instruction, were recently inscribed on UNESCO?s intangible heritage lists.
