The ministry earlier invited Hungary?s smaller municipalities to apply for the programme, under which loans of up to HUF 20 million are made available for culture-related developments. The loans carry a preferential rate, and the state pays a portion of the installments ? half in most cases.

The twenty-year loans, provided in cooperation with the Hungarian Development Bank, will go toward the refurbishment or construction of libraries, museums and community centres.

The programme?s winners will use the funding to assist in the refurbishment of community centres in the villages of Lispeszentadorján and Felsőtold, as well as for a new library in Tiszarád and a new theatre in Csikóstőttős. Another winner will use the funding to start a bookmobile which will travel to 35 villages in Baranya County.
