Vilmos Gryllus |
Gryllus, a fixture on Hungary's music scene for decades, said he received an invitation to play at the school thanks to several Hungarian pupils studying there.
"The plan is for the kids to dress up as characters from the animated film made at the time 'Masked Ball' came out," he said. The album has inspired many Carnival programmes around Hungary, not necessarily masked balls, but theatre and civic centre productions, he added.
Gryllus conceded his songs and those of his bank Kaláka are strongly bound to the Hungarian language, and foreign invitations usually come from places where many Hungarians live. An exception is Japan, where Kaláka has been invited several times, even though the audiences don't understand Hungarian, he added.
Gryllus said he would play a series of concerts showcasing work on last year's children's album "Songs 4" in the autumn. An important performance will be at Budapest's Palace of Arts on November 13, he added.
