Choirs are coming from as far away as Japan and Taiwan for the festival. Among the European choirs participating are ones from Bulgaria, Italy, Poland and Sweden. The Hungarian choirs are the Sol Oriens Mixed Choir from Debrecen and the youth choir Musculus Vocalis from Székesfehervár.
The festival will start on Friday with a parade through the old town and open officially on the open-air stage in Szentháromság Square in the evening with performances by the City of Veszprém Mixed Choir, the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra and the Veszprém Dance Ensemble.
On Saturday and Sunday, performances will take place at venues around the city, including Balaton Plaza, the Church of Saint Margaret and the Lutheran Church in Kossuth Street.
The festival jury is being headed by Gizella Prize-winning director of the City of Veszprém Mixed Choir Ágnes Erdélyi. Its members are Victoria Liedbergius, a member of the Europa Cantat board from Sweden; Sasa Matovina, a Croatian singer and choir director; and Tamás Lakner, the Hungarian Liszt Prize-winning director of the Bartók Choir of Pécs.
