Five films that put voluntary service in the focus will be screened at the festival, hosted by Budapest?s Vörösmarty cinema, on September 2. The screenings, which will be followed by roundtable talks, are being organised by the Hungarian Volunteer Foundation, with the support of the National Civil Fund.
The films feature the work of international volunteer organisations in Africa, South America and Asia.
?The importance of helping those in need?is a good gauge of how developed a society is,? said Hungarian Volunteer Foundation head Péter Reicher. ?Hungary has no reason for embarrassment considering the growing number of young Hungarians participating in international development programmes,? he added.
In the framework of the screenings and talks to follow, festival-goers can learn how they too can help by volunteering.
