The previous city in the My City series was Prague, which the A38 introduced with the assistance of Václav Havel. To help with Warsaw?s introduction, the A38 has invited Warsaw mayor and former Polish Prime Minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz to speak.
The A38 will put on the Warsaw programme in conjunction with Fabryka Trzciny, one of the Polish capital?s most famous arts centres.
On the musical part of the programme will be the famous Polish jazz trumpeter Tomasz Stanko, the pianist and singer Stanislaw Sojka, the nu-jazz band Muzykoterapia, and the actress-cum-musician Maria Peszek. Also on the bill are Tworzywo Sztuczne, playing jazz/hip-hop, and Masala Sound System, offering dancehall/reggae sounds.
Other events on the programme include a photography exhibition of Warsaw?s most interesting buildings and a talk on contemporary architecture in Warsaw and Budapest. Another talk with Boguslaw Linda will focus on the state of Polish and Hungarian film in connection with the documentary Taxi Warsaw, which will be shown at the festival.
The festival will also feature an installation which playfully reinterprets the silhouette of Warsaw?s Palace of Culture and Science at the Városháza Park, organised with the assistance of the Fundacja Centrum Europy, as well as an air balloon hovering above the ship.
My City: Warsaw, will take place on September 28-30. The A38 is a ship docked on the Buda side of the Danube south of the Petőfi Bridge.
