West Balkán Hosts Dub Wiser

English

Jamaican music was introduced into popular French culture decades ago - think of Serge Ganisbourg's reggae rendering of the Marseilles.

Though that performance created a small scandal, reggae and dub have become an unavoidable part of French popular music. In terms of popularity, it is a close second to hip hop for many French people.

The trio Dub Wiser is one of France's best known dub ensembles. Its members have shaped the form for more than a decade, though they had to make three albums and participate in a countless number of other projects before they gained international recognition.

Dub Wiser's music does not stick strictly to dub, but crosses over into hip hop, electronica and even industrial rock, incorporating all elements of dance floor culture.

Dub Wiser will play at West Balkán at 20:00 on November 1.
