This is the fourth consecutive year the international jury has selected photos by a Hungarian artist to receive a prize, Tamas Revesz, the organiser of the Budapest exhibition, said. The winner in the category of Nature this year is Joe Petersburger, alias Jozsef Szentpeteri, for his colour image of a series showing the kingfisher, Revesz added.

Szentpeteri, a biologist, told MTI that he had spent two years making the pictures by following several migrating kingfish families mostly in Hungary and studying their behaviour.

The idea was to show an "air raid by a kingfish" from "the prospective of a fish," he said.

Revesz said the Hungarian photographer's first prize was an exceptional honour since in that category the competition is particularly fierce.

The exhibition can be seen in the Millenaris cultural centre until October 31.
