The ambassador presented the award at the Sziget Festival in Budapest.

During a visit to the Ability Park tent on the island festival, Kounalakis praised the organisation?s efforts to raise awareness for the rights of people with disabilities, including through the outreach they are conducting at the Sziget Festival, the embassy said. There, the ambassador engaged in some of the interactive opportunities that allow people to better understand the challenges faced by disabled people, it added.

?Ability Park is an organisation that showcases the everyday challenges of people with disabilities through interactive activities. Their mission is to change the way people view disabilities, minorities and even the elderly. The non-profit organisation organises educational programs for Hungarian schools and employment training on the special needs of people with disabilities for corporations,? the embassy said.

The embassy launched the Active Citizenship initiative in January 2012 to recognise individuals and non-profit organisations in Hungary that work to improve their communities.

Previous recipients of the award include The March of the Living Hungary and the HÁTTÉR Support Society.
