The jury, headed by Edgar Reitz, called the film a masterpiece and said it went beyond the boundaries of documentary films with its artistic and spiritual approach.
Eighteen films from 14 countries competed in the international section of the festival, which has a long tradition of presenting auteur films. The festival took place on November 6-16.
Another Planet will premiere in the U.S. at the Starz Denver film festival to take place on November 17-23.
