The gallery will show Havadtoy's series The Three Chinese Emperors, which has never before been seen in Hungary.
The pieces pay tribute to three Chinese emperors who ruled as mighty warriors, but at the same time were involved in poetry and the fine arts, thereby establishing their power through the perseveration of the values of the past.
Havadtoy tells a story about one of the emperors, who, after taking control of the Forbidden City, discovered two paintings by a 13th century artist in one room, then, upon examining the inventory of the palace found another two works by the same artist. The emperor built a separate room to house the paintings, calling it "Finally All Four Pictures are Together".
"I think the people of today could learn much from these Chinese emperors," says Havadtoy.
Havadtoy was born in the UK, but moved back to Hungary with his family in the 1950s. He went to the US, via the UK, as a young man. There he became friends with Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and George Condo. Havadtoy was also the companion of Yoko Ono for two decades.
