"With this show, to which we have invited French fashion industry representatives as well as the biggest fashion media, we aim to create new contacts for designers already known [in Hungary] and to put a foot onto French soil," said Hungarian Institute director András Ecsedi-Derdák.
Anita Benes will show eveningwear and wedding gowns; the Auquanata group, well known for their clothing with folk elements, will now present simpler designs; Anica Filakovics's basket clothing reflects the spring; and Artista's loosely formed pieces show simple elegance.
The Hungarian Institute is also bringing some of the most talented students from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest, along with their work, to the French capital to get an inside look at the city's fashion industry between May 12 and 18.
During the week, the Hungarian Institute will show an exhibition of photographs by Zoltán Tombor, the 2007 Hungarian Fashion Photographer of the Year, of shoes by Réka Vágó and hats by Kolos Schilling.
