The organisers said some of the guests will perform dance and theatre in Gödöllő, Eger and Budapest during their week-long stay in Hungary. The troupes will appear on stage during the Celebration of Crafts festival in the Buda castle and at the August 20 national holiday celebrations.
 
The programme aims to help the young participants to develop personal links with Hungarians and also to make friends with each other, deputy state secretary in charge of policy of the nation at the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice Zsuzsanna Répás said of the scheme which is supported by the ministry.
 
The participants will learn about everyday life in Hungary and improve their knowledge of Hungarian culture and history in an authentic linguistic environment, she added.
 
Tibor Dóka, managing director of organiser Hungarofest, said that on the second day the visitors will be taken to the Petőfi Literary Museum where they can learn about the life and work of renowned writer István Örkény. They will also pay a visit to the parliament building and meet Hungarian Olympic champions.
 
József Pelyhe, a representative of the host town Gödöllő, said that maintaining links with Hungarians abroad was important to the city which had also recently hosted a meeting of ethnic Hungarian mayors from the Carpathian Basin.
 
The participants of the youth meeting will appear at a gala performance in Gödöllő?s Szabadság Square on August 18.
