The prize is granted every two years by the European Union and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, Barcelona, to acknowledge and reward quality architectural production in Europe.
The winner of the latest prize was the Norwegian architect's office Snohetta for the design for the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet in Oslo.
Seven projects in Hungary were recommended for the prize, which carries a EUR 60,000 purse.
A travelling exhibition featuring all of the shortlisted projects, including ones by Jean Nouvel, Santiago Calatrava and Zaha Hadid, runs until September.
Kis said the award was an honour, adding that the Práter Street building had been invited to compete for the Ugo Rivolta European Architectural award, which features buildings with a social purpose.
