Alföldi is rehearsing the piece at the Center for Contemporary Opera near Times Square.
At the center?s invitation, Adrienn Miksch, who is not in the Armel contest this year but competed in The Secret Agent last year, will sing the role of Mary. Philippe Brocard, who is a contestant this year, will sing the role of Jay.
The European premiere of A Death in the Family will take place in the framework of the Armel contest at the Szeged National Theatre in Hungary on October 8.
Alföldi is no stranger to New York?s theatre scene, directing The Crucible in 2008 and Emmeline in 2009. Both productions were well received by critics.
