On the first day of the festival an exhibition of Renaissance-like masks by Ilona Varga-Járó was opened by Hungarian State Theatre of Cluj Napoca director Gábor Tompa and the costume designer Helmut Stürmer.
Among the productions on the festival programme are ones by France's Studio 24 - Compagnie Roger Planchon, Teatro da Rainha from Portugal, and the Madrid-based Teatro de La Abadía.
The Hungarian State Theatre of Cluj Napoca will perform Chekhov's Three Sisters, directed by Gábor Tompa; Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, directed by Silviu Purcarete; Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, directed by Andrei Serban; and Shakespeare's Richard III, directed by Tompa.
The festival runs until December 21.
